Skorts Are Here - Why For Weekly Love?

Hey Skortayyy (sorry had to be done..)! When it comes to skorts there are sooo many reasons to fall in love with this retro rework trend. Skorts were huge back in the day. Most of us IKRUSH girls remember begging our mums for floral denim skorts... Ouch. Athletic ladies who do golf, tennis and running were more commonly related to skorts but now fashion, catwalk trends and celebrity style are becoming more common place for skorts. Plus, clothing doesn’t have to stick to the rules when it comes to fashion, or skorts! What better a garment to go out in if you want to do cartwheels or handstands at the end of the night. Don’t lie we have all been there, especially you student girls. For women, the choice to wear skorts will be a good one, not only will you be on trend and chic, but you’ll never have to worry about your skirt flying up in the wind. Hooray! At IKRUSH we have womens skorts in black, white, red tartan and our top favourite the black and white tartan skort.

Skorts Are Here - A Retro Revival.

As we mentioned before, skorts were a part of most girls life at some point prior to now. Despite a lot of those skorts being of questionable style… We have decided to put together a few definite don’ts for the new skorts trend. History may be repeating itself, but at least we can learn from our mistakes.

    The main offender is denim. Now, don’t get us wrong, if you want to rock denim skorts, then go for it. Our only advice is to remember, skorts are about being chic not being a child again. Here’s what we mean… Going over the top with added details is faaar to girlish to hit the right trend notes when wearing skorts. The 90’s had a lot of zips going on with skorts, shorts and jackets alike but don’t be fooled into thinking that the skorts of 2013 will work the same. We are staying clear of frilly little bits too. We may be bringing back one of our childhood loves, but that doesn’t mean replicating how we looked either… Just because these ultra 90’s fashion hiccups are not on the high street doesn’t mean we should all be grabbing our glitter guns, bedazzlers and sewing needles in an attempt to relive our girly days. That’s a NO to embroidery and a NO to glittery patterns. We recommend having a 90’s theme for your next birthday if you want to relive the age of cheesy embellishment! Make sure you invite us though! We just have to warn you off one more style… Floral. Now we are not talking all floral. You could pull off the on trend colours in a delicate winter floral pattern on your skorts (hmmm kind of like this idea now) but we just want to make sure our IKRUSH girlies are not going all out, super girly, bold and big floral patterns on their skorts. For skorts this season, go dark, go edgy and go chic. Oh, before we forget, remember skorts are not just about sports. We definitely don’t recommend taking part in any of these activities in our IKRUSH skorts. EEK!   

Skorts Are Here - Celebrity Inspiration.

Right so lets get back to the present shall we… The celebs have been running around (well walking, you know because skorts aren’t just for sports etc etc) in skorts for a while now, which is why it’s your turn to take the lead and rock the skorts your way. We bring you skorts in black and white which have both been spotted on some of our fav celebs. Olivia Polermo looked amazing with a simple black skort and black and white top. The red bag gave a super cute colour pop to bring a bit more interest to her overall look. Una Healy also went for a colour pop by teaming her white skort with a pink tailored blazer when performing. A definite skorts advantage for on stage prowess, no unwanted flashes whilst dancing! For a bit more of an unusual take we look to Kourtney Kardashian who wore a checked, floaty skort with a loose fitting top and some simple sandals. Going simple on everything else when one item is stand-out is a great way to create an amazing outfit without taking to many risks. Don’t get us wrong, we love a good risk but when it comes to trying new shapes taking things slow may be a good option. Want to see some skorts with a bit more pop themselves? Well, Karolina Kurkova stood out in a bright blue skort with some casual styling. The model teamed a grey and white blazer with the stand out skort and just a plain top underneath. Who said casual can be WOW?!  

Skorts Are Here - Wear It Wherever.

Our fav part about our weekly love is having all the IKRUSH office girls talk about how they will wear our chosen love! Skorts are no exception and with the girls at the office practically arguing over who would wear the Wrap mini tartan skort best, here are some of our top outfits. We thought we really ought to steal at least one celeb skorts look. Picking Olivia was easy as she looked super chic in her outfit. Work our Abigail Quilted Panel Top in black and white with a red oversized shopper handbag to recreate her look. If you want to be exact with this style steal then swap the black and white tartan skort for our plain black version. This look is perfect for a dinner date (even if it’s just with the girls!). If your thinking that skorts can’t look good with a casual style then we really ought to try and prove you wrong. Casual tops don’t have to be dull, which is why we love our Cowl Neck Drop Shoulder Top with wet look sleeves. It’s the little details that make the difference and this wine top will look great teamed with the tartan shorts. We work this look with studded ankle boots for some added edge and style. Wear this outfit to your next shopping trip and definitely team with some thick tights, it’s getting a tad chilly out there. Another style that came up was for super comfy Sundays. Working skorts to Sunday lunch may seem a bit much but when teamed with our monochrome jumper to get super cosy! Why not try it with some knee high boots for the perfect winter style. We love our Quilted Biker Boot with buckle detail. This outfit is sure to keep you toasty and warm whilst rocking the skort, just don’t forget tights… and gloves… and a hat… Looking for an outfit that’s more ‘hitting the clubs’ than ‘hitting the couch’? Well we have a great way to work the colour pop, a party top and the tartan skort on a night out. Go bold in red with our Floaty Chiffon Crop Top and our Platform Shoe Boots and you’ll be sure to stand out from any crowd!
