Skater Dresses Get a Velvety Style Up!

We Can’t Get Enough Skater Dresses.

As we may have previously expresses, we kinda love skater dresses. They are so versatile and have been found in soooo many of our other categories which means we wear them pretty much everywhere. From party dresses to sequin dresses or even evening dresses the skater dress has popped it’s head up and made styling easy. It doesn’t matter where your off to either, a black or red skater dress could look great on a night out with some amazing jewellery or a white lace skater dress with some stand out accessorise can be great for lunch with the girls. Although when you bring out the velvet skater dresses, that’s when you really see versatility at it’s best. With the party season coming up you’ll be looking for more dresses that you can wear to any event too! I know, it feels almost too early to start talking about Christmas parties. This year it has totally snuck up on us. Are you planning yet? We spotted one Twitter user who certainly is…

What About Velvet Skater Dresses?

Yep, one of the main bonuses of the velvet skater dresses is that they can be dressed up for a party or riiight down for an on trend day look. I mean, with skater dresses you don’t have to stick to certain styles for certain occasions. You don’t have to wear sequin skater dresses to those bigger parties or events, nor do you have to wear something girly like floral skater dresses when it’s the height of summer. You can totally mix it up with this style and when it comes to velvet, it’s the most versatile of all… That’s why we have brought in three gorgeous styles to pick from AND we are going to show you how to swap up each dress in some easy peasy moves for a day to night transformation…     Our top pick out of these three dresses has to be the leopard print version. Yes, we know, stop trying to be scary spice! With animal print on the up this season though we are loving wearing leopard print in our own way. No spice girls look alikes here… Although we may have to dance around and pretend we’re Mel B anyway, especially if this comes on!       Now we don’t want you to worry if your thinking that velvet is a bit too ‘oh hello Christian Grey’ for your day looks, we have some amazing tips on how to dress down faux velvet and still look amazing. Although to be honest we wouldn’t mind if it WAS hello Christian Grey. Have you seen who might be playing him in the movie?! He’s Irish and has a beard… Enough said. Fellow Tweeters agree too! See, we’re not the only ones inappropriately checking him out!

Style Up Your Velvet Skater Dresses.

Let’s start with our favourite shall we? Wearing leopard print on a night out is fairly easy. You just have to make sure you don’t make the previously mentioned Scary Spice mistake of wearing double leopard print. PUT DOWN THE MATCHING SHOES… Ahem, anyway we love wearing the velvet animal print skater dress with a biker jacket over the top for a touch more warmth. Team with our gold arrow suede heels and matching gold aztec hand jewellery for a bit of blingage!   Black skater dresses are so easy to wear and the black velvet skater dress is no exception. We give it an injection of colour with the floral print blazer. A blazer can be the perfect cover up when wearing dresses that have a great shape, as it doesn’t swamp your figure. We also chose to add some metallic and shine with the metallic silver large bucket bag and peep toe strappy heels with a silver block heel. So you’ll pop and shine on the dance floor. Hmmm sounds like a new dance move...   In a gorgeous wine red shade this velvet skater dress was a close second favourite of ours. For the perfect evening look we love wearing skater dresses with our super cute bowler hat for some girlish but dressed up style. With our chunky cut out peep toe wedges and a black quilted bomber jacket this party look has an edgy vibe too. Why not go for smoky eyes and some wine lips to bring the whole thing together!

Annnnd Style Them Back Down Again…

So we have shown you how to wear velvet on a night out. Let’s face it, that was the easy part and dressing the velvet skater dresses back down might be a tad trickier. We’ll start again with our fav and look at the velvet animal print skater dress. We liked the idea of wearing this with a bit of a Cara Delevingne feel so, of course, we just had to pick our gold studded black beanie hat and team it with our super cosy burgundy zipper hoodie! For an added, unusual touch we thought the mega platform lace up shoes were a perfect match. With a platform of almost 3” you get all the height but without the hassle of teetering in heels. Bonus!   For the black velvet skater dress we thought that an outfit for the office (or other places you might have to be sensible, like school) could be perfect. We create this look by layering a chiffon cut out shirt in black underneath and teaming with some simple patent pumps with a bow. For some office ready practicality we add an oversized crocodile skin shopper bag which will not only fit all your files and folders but also set off lots of other outfits too.   So we’ve done edgy and we’ve done smart so maybe now it’s time for something a bit more… well cute. This velvet skater dress looks great when teamed with other textures. Layering with the ultra soft cropped fluffy jumper in black and a knitted bobble beanie hat adds some great texture combos as well as a whole lot of warmth. Wear with our parka with faux leather sleeves for the perfect jacket and knitwear combo.   Still not convinced that the velvet skater dress is for you?
