How to dress for both Winter and Spring fashion season at once
Do you like to feel warm and yet look colourful and on top of the latest trends? Of course you do. But the reality it is, it is approaching Spring and the weather continues to chill and annoy us more every day. Yesterday, not for the first time in the last few weeks, the rain was so loud it woke me up before my alarm (grr..it's horrible). To stop you sinking into a rut of the past AW13 season, and keeping you moving into SS14 we suggest a few tricks. Yes the freezing and windy nights are hard to handle, but like most other hard things, they are a lot easier to handle when you look and feel fabulous in a rockin' outfit. Dress for the Winter and Spring fashion season now, it is the time.
1. Wear lots of layers
Wearing layers keeps the heat in better than wearing one heavy item, be it a jumper or a jacket. There are so many ways to make layers look stylish so it won't affect your fashion credibility. Pop a shirt on under your thick jumper and wear a visible collar. Add a chunky necklace to this outfit to accessorise and add some femininity.
2. Use a colourful bag
This weather is depressing enough, believe us, without carrying around a boring heavy bag.Start using your boldest brightly coloured handbag and we guarantee you will smile more throughout your day at work. Every time you go to get your purse, pen, diary or a snack, you will be reminded to smile at the bright Spring zest your handbag carries. And if its pouring with rain on your way home and you lose the Spring step in your step, even with the bag, at least you know you gave it your best shot, and you can try again tomorrow, bright bag in toe again.
3. Update your style (and your wardrobe)
I know it's hard to know what to buy in the middle of two seasons, but the way to keep ahead of the trends is to watch them, read about them, and buy accordingly. Look at what is coming onto your favourite websites. Our new in section is always full of stock that is chosen according to expert trade reports and what they predict will be big after the bi-annual fashion weeks of the year. When designers show their collections for the seasons ahead, stores (like us) take notice and buy what we know will be big trends and best sellers. So see when you see something online or in a store window and think, 'its too early to buy it for Spring or Summer', it isn't. It makes more sense to buy while you can... It is the most irritating thing ever when items you 'were going to buy' go out of stock...(maybe even more annoying than the rain).
